On a computer where HCL Notes existed before Outlook installation, some applications may still invoke Notes when clicking on a "Send via email" function. This occurs even after all the file types, protocols, and default application have been changed in Windows -> Default Programs. 2 examples that can be used to test/reproduce the problem are Microsoft Excel (Share -> Email) and the old Snipping Tool (right-click on screenshot, then "Send To").

The fix is to delete the '''HCL Notes''' key (and all its subkeys) in <code>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail</code>.
