Procedure For Correctly Configuring The Rogers Rocket Stick For VPN Use

uniPHARM owns 3 Rogers Rocket sticks. These devices are USB and use the Rogers cell network to provide an internet connection. Ron has 1 of the devices and the other is shared among the other managers. JohnT or StephenM are the people that usually have the second and third devices.

It is important to understand that if the user just wants a basic internet connection to web browse or check email, the procedure below is NOT needed. If the person wants to use the VPN to get to Superserver, then YES, the following procedure is necessary.

# Login as an administrator to the person’s laptop
# Plug in the Rocket stick into an available USB port
# The device will be recognised as a normal USB flash drive
# Automatically the stick will launch an installation program – let it run and install the program. The program being installed is used to connect and disconnect the device. If the program does not autorun then browse to the USB drive and run the installer as an Administrator
# Once program is installed click on the Settings icon
# Click the Add button
# In the Config Filename field type in Rogers with VPN
# In the Dial Number field type in *99#
# Put a check mark in the Save username and password check box
# In the Username field type in wapuser1
# In the Password field type in wap
# Put a dot next to Use the following APN name
# In the Config field type in vpn.com
# Click OK
# Mark the “Rogers with VPN” as the default
# Close the program
# Re-open the program and click CONNECT

Now the user will be able to use the normal VPN with the Rocket stick. If the above procedure does not work then please call Rogers technical support at 1-866-727-2141. Remember that in order to get technical support you have to impersonate either Stephen or Darren and know what the Rogers account number is. Angela has copies of the bill and that will have the account number on it.
