Problems

Work profile cannot be set up on new BES-provisioned device

Problem description:

Previously activated BlackBerry phone does not activate for new user on BES server. Problem persists despite factory reset of phone and reloading of OS software. Activation appears to proceed to completion, but fails towards the end, during the setup of a new Work space (BlackBerry Balance).

Solution:

  1. On BES 10 web console, navigate to BlackBerry Solution topology --> BlackBerry Domain --> Server View --> Component View --> Enterprise Management Service.
  2. Select “Turn on Microsoft ActiveSync gatekeeping” and save configuration.
  3. Select “Turn off Microsoft ActiveSync gatekeeping” and save configuration.
  4. Attempt activation of phone.

Solution explanation: Solution was found on BlackBerry forums where users were experiencing the same problem. Exact cause of the problem and the mechanism of the solution remain unknown, though it is suggested to be related to permissions.
