Every year, GMP testing is conducted for all staff members. To set up the same course for a new year, the backup-and-restore method is easiest:
- Enter (click into) the course to be copied.
- Expand the Course administration folder in the Administration panel on the left side of the screen.
- Select Backup.
- De-select "Include enrolled users", and ensure that "Include grade history" is de-selected as well.
- Accept the defaults and perform the backup.
- Select Restore (right below the Backup option) under Course administration.
- There are multiple sources to restore from (for example, from a backup file), but the back up that was just performed is saved under User private backup area. In this section, the backup just performed will be listed. Select Restore for this backup entry.
- There are also multiple destinations into which you can restore a course. In this case, the backup will be restored as a new course. Select Online Assessment as the category, and select the Continue button (make sure to select the Continue button specific to the section Restore as a new course.
- Upon reaching the Course settings section, change the defaults (course name, short name, and start date) to reflect the current year.
- Finish the restore.
Enrolling users into the new course
At this point the lessons and quizzes will be restored into a new course, but there will be no enrolled users.
- Under 'Course administration', expand 'Users', and select Enrolled Users.
- Select Enrol users to enrol users.
Remember that only users set up in the system will show up here (recall the analogy in this article that a student must be registered at the school before they can be enrolled in any courses. Set them up first if they are not listed in 'Enrol Users'.
