Overview

owl.unipharm.local is a Linux server (VM) that hosts LAMP-stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) software for internal use. Currently, uniPHARM uses the following open-source LAMP-based software:

  • Mediawiki (intranet wiki) - migration in progress
  • Moodle (eLearning) - to be migrated to this server
  • osTicket (IT ticketing software) - to be migrated to this server

The server runs Debian Linux.

Installation Notes

  • Installed 09:53, 19 August 2020 (PDT), Linux VM on vmhost03 (should be migrated to vmhost01 or 02)
  • SSH and sFTP access similar to UWDOSS
  • MariaDB installed
  • Installed adminer, mediawiki as Debian packages
  • Configured wiki through mysql CLI.
  • mysqldump to export from Windows DB then import to new Debian DB
  • Looking into AD Authentication via winbindd - deferred to later
  • Mediawiki extensions being redownloaded and installed one by one using the strategy of inspecting the LocalSettings.php errors output in the Apache log
  • LDAP Authentication (e.g. AD integration) looks more involved but the new solution looks more stable and with official support: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Active_Directory_Integration
  • Installed php_ldap
  • FTP'ed resources files (e.g. logo) and images
  • Installed Elasticsearch 5.6, Elastica, and CirrusSearch to get the search working again (this was a PITA)
  • Changed caching to memcached (which was installed as part of mediawiki deb package)
