Cause . . . . . : The file on output queue SA1INV11A in library QUSRSYS
requires form type '*STD' to be loaded on device SA1INV11A. The form type
for the file was all blanks when appears as the form type.
Possible choices for replying to message . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :
G -- Begin processing the current file after loading the form type.
B -- Begin processing the current file after loading and aligning the form

I -- Ignore the request to load the form type. Print the file on the
current formtype (same as option 0 on System/36).
H -- Hold the file and print the next file on the output queue.
R -- Search the output queue for the first available file with the correct
form type. Reply value R is useful after using the Change Writer (CHGWTR)
command to change the form type or the output queue of the writer.
*FILEEND must be specified for the option (OPTION) parameter on the CHGWTR
command for the change to take effect.
C -- Cancel the writer (same as option 2 on System/36).

This means that the System i thinks that a special form is loaded in the printer. I’m not sure what causes this, but it happens occasionally. The correct response to this is G -- Begin processing the current file after loading the form type.

If the form type the message is asking you to load is anything other than ‘*STD’ (standard), the correct response is I -- Ignore the request to load the form type. Print the file on the current form type. This in an anomaly (we are currently not using any special forms); if you answer with a G you will get this message again, telling you to change back to ‘*STD’.

The first thing to do, is Retry. If the message is not repeated (within a couple of minutes, depending on just what the cause is), the problem is solved. If the message is repeated, more investigation is required. In this case, go to the laser printer in the narcotics case, see what the problem is, and fix it. Then try Retry again.

This means that a file has hit the maximum number of records for which it is configured. You key in the number of increments to increase it; not number of records. The default for an ‘increment’ is 1000 records. The typical response to this is ‘9999’.

This could be caused by the programmer not configuring the file to be large enough, or it could be that a program is in a loop and adding duplicate records. If this message is repeated for the same file, a programmer should check it.

Because the email said the job was ‘ATLAS_INT’, or the Atlas interface, you could have skipped the above and come directly here.

Look for it in active jobs (WRKACTJOB). The ‘MSGW’ status – message waiting – is misleading on these monitoring jobs. They are usually not waiting for someone to respond to a message, but for messages to appear on a message queue. To tell the difference, use option 7 ‘Display Message’. The response ‘Job 769368 / ATLAS / ATLAS_INT not waiting for a specific message’ means it is waiting for a message to arrive on the message queue. This is how it is normally. In this case, there is an error, and it is waiting for a user response.

This indicates that there is something wrong with the scan file we received from Atlas. To find out what, do a program dump. Use option 7 (in work with active jobs) to display and reply to this message. Respond ‘D - Obtain RPG formatted dump’. This will go into the spool file of the user on the display for F9 ‘Display message details’. In this case, it was ‘ATLAS’. So on a command line, key in WRKSPLF ATLAS and press enter. Press F18 to go to the bottom of the list, and use option 5 to display file QPPGMDMP (Q indicating system object, P for printer file, PGM for program, and DMP for dump).

Search for the field DNDDATA in this program dump, by keying it into ‘Find’ and pressing F16. It should be recognizable data, like store name and address, and dates and times. This means an invalid file got into the Atlas folder on the FTP server.

This tells that user SHEILAUSER ran program ASSET01, which had an error copying something. Because the message came to QSYSOPR, the job was running in batch; if it was running in interactive, the message would have gone to the user.

To look at the job, key in WRKACTJOB and press enter. Press page down until you come to the subsystem QBATCH. Find a job in status MSGW (message wait)

Message . . . . : File system error occurred. Error number 3025.
Cause . . . . . : File system experienced an unexpected error. Error number
  3025 was received.

perform the recovery for those messages.
If the error number is a value other than 0, determine the meaning of
error number and perform the appropriate recovery for that error. See the
Technical Description for how to determine the meaning of the error number.
    Then try the operation again.
If the problem continues or cannot be corrected, use the Work with Problem

been logged. If there was not a system detected problem, use the Analyze
Problem (ANZPRB) command to report the problem.

The folder ‘uwd staging/sheilauser’ does not exist. That is what caused this error. Create the folder, then go back to the original message in DSPMSG QSYSOPR, and respond with a ‘R’ to retry. This time, the copy will succeed.

CPF1393 - User profile username has been disabled.

A very common problem is when a user enters an incorrect password three times and their username gets disabled. The quick fix on this is to enable their password. To do this get to a command line (F4 in the green screen) and type the following:

WRKUSRPRF username and press ENTER.

Ex.) WRKUSRPRF MATTB

On the Work with User Profiles screen put a 2 in front of the user profile name and press ENTER

This takes you to the Change User Profile screen (CHGUSRPRF). Ensure that the Status is changed from *DISABLED to *ENABLED and then press ENTER.

This should fix the problem. To make sure everything works correctly log in as the user (get their password from the comprehensive password list). If they do not have their password captured in the comprehensive password list (some staff do not, in order to maintain increased autonomy) they will need to test it themselves.
