Overview

ThinkTel is our primary phone service (SIP trunk) provider.

Pilot number Number of channels Notes
778-732-4693 10 Max number
778-732-4650 - Reservation trunk

uControl Web Administration

uControl is ThinkTel's user portal for technical and billing administration. Most components of the SIP trunk service can be modified here, including adding/removing channels and DIDs.

Configuration

SIP Trunk Bindings

A SIP Binding is required to define a connection between a ThinkTel SIP trunk and a PBX i.e. it specifies where ThinkTel will route the calls to. Because 3CX is reachable via our Telus Business Fibre connection as well as our Shaw Business Internet (cable) cable, two bindings are needed. The settings for the main connection are as follows (Shaw to be added later):

Contact End Point 207.102.139.100:5060
Proxy End Point 208.68.17.52:5060
SIP Domain Name edm.trk.tprm.ca
Enabled True
Maximum Channels 15

SureCall

If ThinkTel cannot reach our PBX via any of the SIP bindings, a feature called Surecall (if enabled) forwards the calls to another number.

Reservation Trunk (inactive DIDs)

ThinkTel offers "DID parking", which allows us to save on the v911 fee per DID on DIDs that are not actively used. This is done by assigning the numbers to a reservation trunk, which in essence is another SIP trunk altogether.
