This page details instructions for managing contacts and groups in Exchange. It is intended for those with the Company Directory Management Role in Exchange.

Web Portal

Exchange Admin Center is the name of the web portal for management of contacts and groups.

Managing contacts

The Contacts section contains contacts, which are akin to entries in a conventional phone/email directory. The entries found here can be added to mailing lists (see #Managing Groups). Staff are not found here,

Note: Contact email addresses will be prefixed with "SMTP:". It can be ignored and is managed automatically when adding/editing contacts.

Adding contacts

  • Clicking Add a contact brings up following dialog box

  • Select Mail contact as the contact type.
  • If this is a store/pharmacy contact, First name and Last name can be skipped. Enter the Display name and 'Email'.
  • If more than one contacts exist for the store, the first and last name fields may be useful to populate.
  • If this is a contact that will only be found in the Sensitive/Confidential lists, then the following steps apply:
  • Prefix the display name with [Private] (this is just a convention).
  • Save the contact.
  • Enter Classic Admin Center via the link/option on the left menu pane.
  • Navigate to recipients -> contacts.

  • Find and double click the contact just created.
  • Check the following setting:

Editing contacts

  • Click an existing contact to edit its fields. See note above about the SMTP: prefix.
