1. Assigning IP to ZT231

(a) Download and install the driver from Zebra’s Website – support page.

(b) Connect the printer to an Ethernet cable that is connected to the switch.

(c) Plug the power cord into an appropriate power outlet and turn on (I) the printer.

(d) Once it’s on, go to Connection and select “Wired”.

(e) Assign the IP, subnet (255.255.248.0), and Gateway (172.30.16.1)

(f) Also, complete the Wizards and calibrate the printer. 

       Ps. Remember that in Print Wizard, select “Direct Thermal” as print type, “Gap/Notch” as media type, and “Tear Off” as media handling.

(g) For ZT231 “PRICE TICKET LABELS” ONLY, go to the web interface using their IP and change their TEAR OFF ADJUST to +002.

2. Adding ZT231 to the Print Management

(a) Navigate to the Windows Control Panel and select Devices and Printers.

(b) Click Add a printer.

(c) Click The printer that I want isn’t listed.

(d) Select the Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings option and click Next.

(e) Select the Create a new port option and select Standard TCP/IP from the drop-down menu.

(f) Enter the printer IP address in both the empty fields, click OK, and click Next.

(g) From the left panel, select ZDesigner and select ZT231 203 dpi EPL on the right. Click Next.

(h) You will need to change the printer's name as per the picking station and click Next.

(i) From Printer Sharing, select “Do not share this printer”.

(j) Open the Zebra Printer Setup Utility for Windows to convert it to ZPL to EPL mode 

   Before converting, add the below alerts:
   Printhead too hot
   Power Supply temperature is too high
   Printhead element bad 
   Clean printhead
   Replace the printhead
   Battery is low
   Motor overheating
   Printhead shutdown
   Thermistor fault
   Invalid printhead
   and in print server settings: server address - 172.30.25.3 and domain - unipharm.local
  • Left-click to select your printer and click the “Open Communication With Printer button”.
  • Type the below command
           ! U1 setvar "device.languages" "epl"
           ! U1 setvar "device.pnp_option" "epl"
           ! U1 do "device.reset" "" <CR>
  • Click Send to Printer: The printer will restart and the printer language is changed.

3. Adding ZT231 to Green Screen (ERP)

(a) Login to the Green Screen.

(b) In the green screen press F4 to get to a Command Line and Type the command: CALL QCMD and press ENTER.

(c) For full-screen command line press F11.

(d) After that, type the command Make sure to change the outq and IP 

     CRTOUTQ OUTQ(QUSRSYS/FRUPTK12B) RMTSYS(*INTNETADR) RMTPRTQ('raw2') AUTOSTRWTR(1) CNNTYPE(*IP) DESTTYPE(*OTHER) TRANSFORM(*YES) MFRTYPMDL(*WSCST) WSCST(QSYS/QWPDEFAULT) INTNETADR('172.30.17.95') DESTOPT(XAIX) SEPPAGE(*NO)

(e) The above OUTQ has to be edited and in order to edit the writer has to end, follow below 

     ENDWTR nameOfOutq

(f) Make the below changes:

(g) After that, start the writer, follow below: 

   STRRMTWTR OUTQ(nameOfOutq)
