Within Moodle, there is course administration and site administration - this distinction is important to keep in mind (especially when navigating the menus), as they may share the same settings and categories, which can be confusing. Another way to think about this distinction is "global vs. local" settings. As an instructor, you will mostly be concerned with 'Course administration'.
