Jetforms And VSIfax Failover Procedure AS OF 2018 THIS DOCUMENTATION IS NO LONGER VALID AND IS DEPRECIATED
Assumptions In Mind At The Point Fail Over Is Needed
- The old physical server that housed the old Lucy Windows 2000 virtual machine is powered off
- The current Lucy server on Windows 2008 is incapacitated enough that failover is needed. Examples include hardware failure or severe disruption to the operating system, Jetforms or VSIfax. When possible and if time permits, restore from backup tape before doing this procedure.
Procedure
- Power on the old physical VMHost1 server located in the communications rack in the server room. Verify that the Windows2000 Lucy virtual machine powers on.
- On Windows2000 Lucy, change the Jetforms service from manual to automatic and start the service. Do the same for the VSIfax service.
- On Windows2008 Lucy, open the VSIfax administration console ( no password ) and check that there are no outbound faxes in progress or pending. If the server is powered off then skip this step.
- After checking the outbound fax queue on Windows2008 Lucy, open the devices tab in the VSIfax administration console. Right click on “fax1” and “fax2” and remove the checkmark next the “Enable” function. If this server is powered off then skip this step.
- On a green screen go to WRKOUTQ and locate the JFPIPE and JFSTMTS queues
- For JFPIPE choose 5 to work with
- Then F20 which is shift F8
- Then 4 to end the writer with an F4 option. Type in *IMMED and press enter
- Once the writer has stopped press F12 twice
- Choose 8 next to the JFPIPE queue
- Then F13 which is shift F1
- Then F9 to change the IP address of the queue. Type in the IP address of the Windows2000 Lucy which should be 172.30.18.17
- Once the changed IP address has been saved the writer should start and the queue is now ready to be used. It is normal to see many documents and print jobs in the queue. They do not need to be acted upon.
- Repeat steps 4 to 12 for JFSTMTS.
- In the Server Room, swap the serial cables that plug into the fax modems. The fax modems should only have 2 red lights on the front panel.
- On Windows2000 Lucy, open the VSIfax administration console ( no password ) and enable both fax devices as described in step 3
- On a green screen, go to the Warehouse menu and choose 50 for Inquiries
- Choose 12 for Invoice Inquiry
- Type in your own customer number
- Put a 1 next to any listed invoice
- Press F7 to create an invoice copy
- Choose Y for fax and type in 6042765265
- Repeat for same invoice, but print instead of fax to any printer ( ELAHO )
- After repairs have been made to Windows2008 Lucy, repeat steps 2 – 23, substituting Windows2008 Lucy for Windows2000 Lucy
