Tips

Enable From: and BCC: fields

  • Create new email
  • Go to Options tab
  • Select From and BCC. These settings are enabled permanently thereafter.
Only BCC is shown here, but you will likely have the From option as well.

Alternate navigation pane

The navigation pane to toggle between Mail, Calendar, Contacts has icons by default. Change these to words:

  • Click ellipses (3 dots, as shown below) in the navigation screen (bottom left of the screen):

The elusive List view in Calendar

Unlike in Notes, viewing the calendar as a list of events is not amongst the other quick toggles e.g. Day/Week/Month. However, it can be found in Change View:

Scheduled Delivery

Finished an email but don't want to send it just yet, but also don't want to forget? Use the Delay Delivery feature, in the Options tab when creating an email

Use this to schedule Away notices to staff, or scheduling an email at the start of the next business day so it doesn't get lost in the backlog ;)

Recover deleted items from the server

If you deleted a message and then emptied your Trash (Deleted Items in Outlook) folder, there is a last resort / bailout. Navigate to the Deleted Items folder, and the Recover Deleted Items from Server option should appear at the top:

Archive rather than delete

Deleting emails should be done by choice, not to keep within quota. While a limit does still exist (50GB), this is on average 10-100x more than your previous mail quota.

Email signatures do not take up

Templates or Saved Drafts

In lotus notes folks used a lot of templates or pre made emails containing specific information that is used over and over. In order to do this in outlook, one way is to create a new email with all the required information and saving the email to the desktop.

Another way is to create a template email and create a shortcut to the template on the desktop or somewhere the user is familiar with.
