Overview
These are instructions on how to print scan badges for new or existing employees in the distribution centre.
Start BC400 server program
- Getting to a command line log into green screen, unity, uwd extensions,VA company, hit F4 to bring up a command window.
- Enter EDTLIBL at command line, add TLACS to first empty line. Hit Enter to submit. This adds the TLACS library to your current library list.
- Enter STRBC400 on the command line to start the Barcode/400 server on IBM i.
Printing from Barcode400 (Windows GUI)
- Open up Barcode/400 GUI in Windows and connect to Bart.
- Open existing template/file, select BADGELTR.
- There are 2 badges, delete one of them, and edit the other.
- To edit, click on the barcode, and the properties pane on the right will show you the current value
- Hit the ellipses to edit the value. Enter the username password as it would be typed in, remembering that each field is 10 characters long and that the values are case-sensitive. So the slightly tricky part is to account for spaces between the username and password. So let's say for a person named 'Adecco User'. The value would be:
'ADECCOU a123456' (4 spaces after the U, and lower case a in the password)
- Edit the name on the lower left hand corner using the same method as the previous step. This is just a normal text value. In this case, "Adecco User"
- Drag-select the entire badge and copy and paste (right click to copy/paste, ctrl+p does not work) it to make 2 badges. If there's a glitch with the barcode appearing red, just try to resize it until it's black.
- Print using the "Test Print" option and select Elaho or Stein (Use Windows Printers, not iSeries Printers). Stick the 8.5x11" sheet in Gerald's mailslot. I usually do the cutting and laminating but our arrangement is that he can do it as well.
- BC400 is a paid licence and maintenance anually to TL Ashford, the account number is 026431 if in need of technical support.
