VSI-FAX

VSI-FAX is fax server software that allows for faxing documents generated by ASW. In other words, it is an integrated component of the Unity/ASW solution as a whole.

When a document is faxed from ASW (whether by a user action or a batch process), the spool file first goes through JetForm. JetForm then generates a .tag file with information for VSI-FAX to process. This information contains transmission metadata (sender, destination, number etc.), document metadata (fonts, output format), and the document data itself. Thus, VSI-FAX is able to generate a fax document (e.g. .tif or or .pdf format) from the information in this single .tag file.
