  • The store will also have to cancel their existing account with Stericycle (if they have one) but only the account for the Sharps pick up not their Medication Returns pick up account with them.

Addition information

  • Sharps disposal stickers are available at upon request at no charge.
    • The stickers are located on the mezz upstairs in a box labeled MC disposal stickers.
    • Send one bundle (approx. 25 stickers) to the store.
    • Send old logo stickers until stock is depleted then send new logo stickers.
  • Pick up is only for consumer waste – not doctor office disposal
  • Put customer returned smaller sharps containers into the 43L box.
  • Any type of plastic container is ok to put in the bin (no glass)
  • Also partly used injection syringes/needles in containers are ok
  • The 43L Box comes with the plastic bag insert inside the box (some stores miss this because it is shipped as a flat cardboard box)
  • The store must purchase the smaller customer sharps containers from uniPHARM and not Stericycle.
  • Stericycle will drop off a new 43L box at the same time as the disposal pick up.
  • The smaller containers are to be purchased from Unipharm. If the store receives the smaller containers from the driver they will be billed for them accordingly.
  • The stores must have their own store account set up for the following services:
  1. White Pail pick up (store compounding items)
  2. Blue Pail pick up (customer rx returns)
  • The Sharps pick up (43L or 85L boxes) is to be charged to uniPHARM account #7010188 indicating their store number (e.g. 99)
  • Best to schedule pails/boxes to be picked up at different times to make sure they are billed to the correct accounts.

Special Instructions for Stores that don't have stericycle service due to location

  • Stericycle does not provide Sharps pick up service on Bowen Island or Pender Island or to Sun Peaks so the pharmacy will call uniPHARM for and return authorization number and return their items to uniPHARM for disposal.
  • Issue R/A number for return and send the store a 43L Sharps Container at No Charge (item #02217552) uniPHARM expense.
  • Stericycle will pick up from Unipharm for disposal.

Tracking

  • All charges are recorded on the MC Store expenses spreadsheet from the Stericycle invoices (use the current year) Store Expenses.
